Assistant Coach Hanna Seltzer
Hanna Howard returned to UC San Diego for her third season as assistant coach under head coach Charity Elliott. A former standout at the University of Portland, Howard was hired as the top assistant on Coach Elliott’s staff in July 2007. Howard is involved in all aspect of coaching including recruiting, travel, scheduling, and player development. She also oversees the program’s summer camps and scouting and video operations.
In her third season on the UCSD campus, Howard helped guide the Tritons to an impressive overall record of 25-5. This was the third straight year the Tritons to at least a 25 win season, an achievement that has never been done before in program history. Ranked as high as No. 9 nationally during the season, the Tritons claimed their second straight CCAA Conference Championship.
A four-year letter-winner at Portland, Howard (Seltzer) had her senior year cut short after a tearing a ligament in her knee early during the 2004-05 season. She graduated with a degree in Organizational Communication in the spring of 2005 and concluded her collegiate career with averages of 6.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in four seasons with the Pilots.
Howard earned her Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration in February 2010. She resides in La Jolla with her husband Marques.

Assistant Coach Alexis Mezzetta
After a very successful career as a player at UC San Diego, Alexis Mezzetta was hired as an assistant coach by head coach Charity Elliott in June of 2008. Mezzetta is involved in all aspects of coaching in including recruiting, player development and scouting.
In her second season on the UCSD staff, Mezzetta helped guide the Tritons to an impressive overall record of 25-5. This was the second straight year the Tritons to at least a 25 win season, an achievement that has never been done before in program history. Ranked as high as No. 9 nationally during the season, the Tritons claimed their second straight CCAA Conference Championship.
A four-year letter-winner, Mezzetta helped guide the Tritons to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances during her time at UCSD, including a trip to the Final Four in 2006-07. She posted career averages of 3.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in a total of 102 games as a Triton. Mezzetta appeared in 35 games as a senior last season, averaging 5.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and a team-high 4.5 assists. She graduated from UCSD in June 2008 with a degree in Biology.
The Sonoma, Calif. native also finished her career ranked in the top 10 in several categories at UCSD. She currently ranks second all-time in career assists with 247, sixth in career games played with 102, seventh in career three-pointers made with 54, and eighth in career steals with 97. During her four years with the program, the Tritons recorded an overall record of 92-30.
Mezzetta earned her Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration in November 2009.
